Title

COMMUNITY TREE PLANTING PROGRAM.

Body

Background:

Given that June 2026 brings about the end of the final renewal year for the Tree Planting Program, the Interim Sustainability and Resiliency Officer Chris Chitester, and Community Greening, the City’s external partner working with our organization to implement the program for the past five years or so, wish to present a snapshot of the final contract year that ends in June 2026, and showcase the many successes of the program across the city.

I’ve therefore invited leadership from Community Greening to join us for a brief presentation on the subject via the May 19th regular meeting.  This engagement will likewise provide an opportunity for City Commission to reflect on the community value of the Tree Planting Program.

Additionally, the City has two outstanding invoices from Community Greening.  Invoice 1153 ($33,698.38) and Invoice 1158 ($54,324.82) totaling $88,032.20.  There is an additional invoice expected in the amount of $4,901.07.  A budget amendment request has been made in the amount of $92,924.27.  This amount is what was available for the Tree Planting Program at the time of the renewal signing in December 2025.
