NOMINATIONS FOR APPOINTMENTS TO THE BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT.
BASED ON THE ROTATION SYSTEM, THE NOMINATIONS FOR APPOINTMENTS OF TWO (2) QUALIFIED MEMBERS AND ONE (1) AT LARGE MEMBER TO SERVE TERMS ENDING AUGUST 31, 2028, WILL BE MADE BY DEPUTY VICE MAYOR MARKERT (SEAT #1), COMMISSIONER MOLLICA (SEAT #2) AND COMMISSIONER CASALE (SEAT #3).

Motion to approve the appointments of two (2) Qualified Members and one (1) at large member to serve terms ending August 31, 2028.

Background:
The terms for the following committee members will expire on August 31, 2026.
They will have served one (1) full term, are eligible for reappointment and would like to be nominated for reappointment:
- Mark Ronald
- John Delacio
There is one (1) vacant seat on the board with a term ending August 31, 2027.
Currently serving on the Board of Adjustment and meeting qualifications: Aura Ramirez and Jesse Schloesser.
On November 2, 2021, the Commission approved Ordinance No. 21-21 to allow amending the Land Development Regulations of the City of Delray Beach Code of Ordinances to revise the board member composition from five (5) to seven (7) regular members.
Pursuant to Sec. 32.07 - Code of Ordinances - MEMBERSHIP QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS.
Members serving on advisory boards or Committees shall possess sufficient knowledge, experience, judgment or background necessary to competently serve the Board or Committee to which they are appointed. Members shall be residents of or own property in the City, own a business within the City, or be an officer, Director or manager of a business located within the City except as may be provided for by Florida Statutes, Special Act or Resolution of the City Commission or elsewhere within the Code of Ordinances of the City of Delray Beach.
Pursuant to LDR Section 2.1.7(B), The Board of Adjustment shall consist of seven (7) regular members.
(1) At least four (4) seats on the Board must be filled with either a land use attorney, architect, landscape architect, realtor/real estate broker, civil engineer, general contractor, land planner, building inspector, fire safety professional, or other design professional who is familiar with the Florida Building Code.
(2) The remaining three (3) seats may be at large.
(3) The appointing body shall endeavor to appoint as many disciplines as possible to the Board. If there is a lack of applicants to fill the seats reserved for professionals, at large members may be considered.The remaining three (3) seats may be at large.
