Motion to approve the nomination for an appointment for one (1) regular member to serve on the Education Board for a two year term ending July 31, 2025 and two (2) regular members to serve an unexpired term ending 7/31/2024.

 

Body

Background:

Due to Mr. Steven Singer declining his appointment, he created a vacancy on the Education Board.  Vice Mayor Boylston has the opportunity to appoint a board applicant.

Due to the removal of two (2) board members for their attendance creates a vacancy.  The appointed board members will serve an unexpired term ending 7/31/2024. 

Nomination for appointment is needed for one (1) regular member to serve a two (2) year term ending July 31, 2025, and two (2) regular members to serve an unexpired term ending 7/31/2024.

 

Members of the Education Board must be a resident of the City, own property, own or operate a business within the City, or have a child attending Delray Beach public schools.  It is the intent, whenever possible, that the membership includes persons with a background in business, real estate, and/or education.

 

The following individuals have submitted applications and would like to be considered for appointment:

A check for code violations and/or municipal liens was conducted.  None were found.  Voter registration verification was completed, and all are registered.  Please note students are not registered to vote.

 

Based on the City Rules of Procedure (page 9, N.e. ), the nomination for one (1) regular member to serve a two (2) year term ending July 31, 2025, will be made by Vice-Mayor Boylston (Seat #3).

Based on the rotation system, the nomination for two (2) regular members to serve an unexpired term ending July 31, 2024, will be made by Commissioner Burns (Seat #4) and Mayor Petrolia (Seat #5).
