Motion to Approve acceptance of an Interlocal Agreement between the City of Delray Beach and Solid Waste Authority of Palm Beach County (SWA) in the amount of $130,446.25 for assistance in the cleanup and beautification of distressed, blighted or otherwise impacted public properties within incorporated areas of Delray Beach.

Background:

The action before the City Commission is consideration to accept a County-funded grant from the Solid Waste Authority (SWA) that has been awarded to the City of Delray Beach in the amount of $130,446.25. These funds must be used by the City to improve the quality of life and provide a safer, healthier and more aesthetically-pleasing environment for the residents of Palm Beach County.  All properties addressed must be City owned and within the municipal boundaries of the City.  Project will perform revitalization, removal and replacement of fencing along the perimeter of the Delray Beach Memorial Gardens to improve the aesthetics of the property. This is an eligible, cost-reimbursement contract approved by SWA. It is noted that the City will use other funding sources such as, Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund to supplement the project if it exceeds the total allowance. The City has previously received this grant for the last three consecutive years.

This item helps to advance Policy A-5.4: Continue to prioritize areas classified as Needing Revitalization in terms of scheduling of capital infrastructure improvements.
