Recommendation
Motion to approve an additional spending request and a contract increase to agreement MSA RFP No. 041123 with Musco Lighting LLC. for retrofit of lighting at Miller Park's Sergio Field in the amount of $470,407 for a revised total of $1,1782,214.
Body
Background:
The voters of the City of Delray Beach approved a bond referendum with the March 14, 2023 Uniform Municipal Election, designated for Parks Projects not to exceed $20,000,000. The General Obligation Bonds (GO Bonds) are to finance all, or a portion of improvements to Catherine Strong Park, Miller Park, public restrooms, sports field lighting, and other projects as described in Resolution No. 56-24 and at the May 14, 2024 City Commission GO Bond project review and discussion.
On August 5, 2024, the City approved Resolution No. 142-24 to award an agreement with Musco Lighting LLC for Sports Lighting Solutions with Related Technology, Equipment and Services utilizing Sourcewell RFP No. 041123-MSL in the amount of $924,061 for lighting upgrades at Seacrest Soccer Complex and Hilltopper Stadium.
On February 4, 2025, the City Commission approved a request for additional spending and a contract increase in the amount of $387,746 to retro fit lighting at Miller Park fields four and five and for the replacement of parts for a light pole at field 2.
The sports field lighting at Miller Park is in need of upgrades to provide adequate illumination for players, officials, and spectators to participate and enjoy games safely. The retrofit will upgrade the lighting to LED which produces a brighter, higher quality light, are significantly more energy-efficient than traditional lighting systems, and have a longer lifespan, thus requiring less maintenance.
This motion is in accordance with the City Code of Ordinances, Section 36.02 and City Policies and Procedures, Change Orders and Amendments.
