Body

Background:

The Fleet Division of Public Works (Fleet) is responsible for the replacement of vehicles in the City’s fleet. Within the Fire Department, Pumper Truck 201131 and Ladder Truck 201752 have exceeded their life expectancies as front-line emergency response apparatus and are scheduled for replacement in the approved 2026 through 2030 Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) Budget.

On January 4, 2024, the City Commission approved Resolution No. 231-23 to award Agreement P2024-009 with Ten-8 Fire & Safety, LLC for the firefighting apparatus and fire service vehicles utilizing the prices, terms, and conditions of Sourcewell Contract No. 113021-OKC. The initial term of the agreement is valid through February 10, 2026, and may be extended for one (1) additional year. This agreement was utilized to purchase one (1) new Pierce Velocity Pumper Truck and one (1) new Pierce Velocity Ladder Truck for the Fiscal Year (FY) 2024 vehicle replacement cycle.

Ten-8 Fire & Safety, Inc. (Ten-8) is the exclusive dealer for the sale, service, parts, and warranty of custom and commercial fire apparatus manufactured by Pierce in the states of Florida and Georgia. Ten-8 has provided a proposal that includes prepayment discount rates of $114,734.09 (9%) for the pumper truck and $209,172.51 (11%) for the ladder truck. The cost for the pumper truck and ladder truck, inclusive of the prepayment discount and $100,000.00 for loose equipment for each vehicle, is $1,215,725.34 and $1,725,626.23, respectively. Ten-8 will also provide a performance bond upon receipt of the executed agreement.

Upon acceptance of the new trucks, Pumper Truck 201131 and Ladder Truck 201752 will be moved into reserve status for the balance of their life cycles.
