Motion to approve nominations for appointment for six (6) regular members to serve on the Education Board for two year terms ending July 31, 2021.

Background:

The term for regular members Mr. David O’ Connor, Ms. Kae Jonson, Ms. Penny Butler-Schillinger, Ms. Marjorie Waldo, Ms. Barbara Starks, Mr. Edward Whalen and student members Miss. Laurent Kushnerniva will expire on July 31, 2019. Mr. David O’Connor will have served an unexpired term, is eligible, and would like to be nominated for reappointment. Ms. Penny Butler-Schillinger and Ms. Barbara Starks will have served one (1) full terms, are eligible and would like to be nominated for reappointment. Ms. Kae Jonson, Ms. Marjorie Waldo and Mr. Edward Whalen will have served one (1) full term and would not like to be nominated for reappointment. Student Miss Laurent Kushnerniva will have served one (1) full term and is not eligible for reappointment. Student members can only serve one (1) term. Please note there are no student applicants at this time. Nominations for appointments are needed for six (6) regular members to serve two year terms ending July 31, 2021.

Members of the Education Board must be a resident of the City, own property, own or operate a business within the City or have a child attending Delray Beach public schools.  It is the intent, whenever possible, that the membership includes persons with a background in business, real estate and/or education.

 

The following individuals have submitted applications and would like to be considered for appointment:

A check for code violations and/or municipal liens was conducted.  None were found. Voter registration verification was completed, and all are registered. Please note students are not registered to vote.

 

Based on the rotation system the nominations for appointment will be made by Vice Mayor Johnson (Seat #4), Mayor Petrolia (Seat #5), Commissioner Frankel (Seat #1), Deputy Vice Mayor Bathurst (Seat #2), Commissioner Boylston (Seat #3) and Vice Mayor Johnson (Seat #4) for six (6) regular members to serve two (2) year terms ending July 31, 2021.
