Staff recommends approval of the increase in spending for P2023-041 the Delray Beach Police Department’s Motorola Solutions, Inc. agreement to address the radios and radio accessories purchasing needs of the Utilities, and Park and Recreation Departments.

Background:
Motorola Solutions, Inc., through utilization of National Association of State Procurement Officials (NASPO) master agreement # 00318 has been the vendor primarily utilized by the Police Department to provide its employees with radios and radio accessories such as microphones, batteries, antennas, etc. Since the agreement has been put in place, Utilities (Lift Station, UM and WS), who have been using communication radios to communicate during emergency and non-emergency situations and to conduct day-to-day operations, have requested to utilize the Police Department’s contract annually for batteries and replacements of damaged equipment. Most recently, the Parks and Recreation Department has requested utilization of the contract due to identified need to purchase additional ten (10) radios for communication during special events.
In an effort to operate in a more efficient manner and not have multiple agreements with the same company for different departments, we are looking to consolidate all departments in need of purchasing radios or radio accessories into one agreement with Motorola Solutions, Inc. for the term of the contract through December 31, 2026, and final extension through December 31, 2028 in the estimated amount not to exceed $315,000.
