Title

ANNUAL PRESENTATIONS BY CITY-FUNDED NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS

Body

Recommended Action:

Recommendation

Allow each organization to make their presentation and ask questions of each as the Commissioners deem appropriate.

Body

Background:

Each year during a budget workshop, the non-profit organizations that have on-going funding agreements with the City are asked to present to the Commission regarding their achievements during the past year and to discuss these accomplishments and future endeavors. To this end, staff has reached out to the 6 non-profits that currently receive funding and have asked them to prepare such a presentation along with anything else they would like to share or discuss with the Commission.

Each group has been asked to prepare for a 10 minute presentation and a roughly 5 minute question

and answer session.

The presentations have been scheduled in the following order (with the amount of the organization's

current funding):

                     A. Friends of Sandoway House Nature Center ($31,200)

                     B. Boys & Girls Club of Palm Beach County ($25,000)

                     C. Achievement Center for Children and Families

                                          1. To Support Achievement Center Programming ($81,000)

                                          2. Pine Grove Elementary and Village Academy  ($62,000)

                     D. Delray Beach Historical Society ($100,000)

                     E. Spady Cultural Heritage Museum ($50,000)

                     F. The Delray Beach Public Library*

                                          1. Allocation to the Library ($1,633,152)

                                          2. Share of parking operations and maintenance to PB County ($34,271.55)

* - The Library's funding agreement governs an annual allocation granted to the library (not a pre-set amount) through the City's annual budget.  The agreement also provides for the City will pay the Library's portion of the costs of operations and maintenance of the South County Courthouse parking facilities (an amount equal to 30% of the County's annual cost - this is a  variable amount year-to-year).

Each of the organizations has a funding agreement that expires on September 30, 2026 (Achievement Center for Children and Families has two agreements (as shown above).  All of the agreements were for a period of five years except the agreement with theDelray Beach Public Library, which was just entered into in May 2023 though its expiration date remains the same as the others on September 30, 2026.

NOTE: All presentations have been attached to this agenda item except that to be given by the Spady Cultural Heritage Museum as their presentation is a video file that contains no sound.
