Review and consider Resolution 243-23, approving an Impact Event known as the 3rd Annual Delray Beach Concours d'Elegance to be set up on April 20, 2024 and held April 21, 2024 in and around the Old School Square Campus
Body
Background:
The Delray Beach Concours Foundation is seeking to host the 3rd Annual Delray Beach Concours d'Elegance event in and around the Old School Square Campus. The event is designed similarly to the previous version set up on June 16, 2023 and held June 17, 2023. The event will feature both classic and luxury vehicles, vendors, and entertainment on the grounds of Old School Square and on NE 2nd Avenue. This event is deemed an "Impact Event" under the City's Special Event Policy as one of the conditions of this determination is an event in which more than 3,500 persons are anticipated to attend on any one day. Delray Concours Foundation indicated in their Special Event Application that they anticipate an attendance of 5,000 persons (later this was verbally updated to 10,000 persons based on the 2023 event).
An updated site plan and the original Special Event Application are attached.
City Attorney Review:
The City Attorney has approved the resolution document as to form and sufficiency.
Funding Source/Financial Impact:
At this time, all costs of the event are to be borne by the Applicant. The Applicant has submitted a sponsorship request that will be placed on a future agenda for consideration.
Timing of Request:
The event producer would like to have certainty of the approval in order to begin to market the event to potential participants, attendees, and sponsors as soon as possible.
