Title

APPROVAL OF INCREASE IN THE AMOUNT OF $100,000 PER CONTRACT TERM WITH AQUIFER MAINTENANCE AND PERFORMANCE SYSTEMS, INC.,FOR WELLFIELD MAINTENANCE SERVICES FOR THE UTILITIES DEPARTMENT.

Body

Recommended Action:

Recommendation

Motion to approve an increase of $100,000 per contract term for a total estimated contract amount of $1,875,000 with Aquifer Maintenance and Performance Systems, Inc. for wellfield maintenance services for the Utilities department.

Body

Background:

On August 8, 2017, the Martin County Board of County Commissioners issued a contract with Aquifer Maintenance and Performance Systems, Inc. (AMPS) for wellfield maintenance services. The contract is valid through August 7, 2020 with two, automatic one-year renewal options. The City of Delray Beach (City) has a need to enter into an ongoing agreement for well rehabilitation. This piggyback agreement will allow the City to conduct well rehabilitation services on both a scheduled and as-needed basis. Well rehabilitation ensures the longevity, cleanliness, and optimum pumping production of each well.

On December 9,2019, the Palm Beach County Health Department (PBCHD) conducted their routine Sanitary Survey inspection of the Utility. On  January 2, 2020, the Utilities Department received the Sanitary Survey Report from the PBCHD outlining deficiencies at our raw water wells, focusing on identifying potential sources which may have resulted in the Utility receiving two Positive E.coli test results in year 2019. The AMPS lnc., contract, which Utilities use for raw water well rehabilitation services, also has contract pricing that can be utilized for additional maintenance services such as routine disinfection and monitoring of production wells to assist with prevention of bacteria, reducing our risk of receiving future Positive bacterial test results.

Staffs requests a contract increase of $100,000 to utilize the additional maintenance services.
