Background:

Bounce Delray Submitted a special event application on January 28, 2025 for the event Bounce Block Party to be held on Saturday, March 15, 2025 on SE 3rd Ave from SE 1st Street to Atlantic Ave.  SETAC made a motion to deny the event due to the event taking place at the same time as the St. Patrick Day Parade and Festival and staffing would be an issue.  After changing the time of the event to after the parade DSMG approved the event and asked for an after action report of the event.

The following was said during the after action discussion at SETAC:

Clean and Safe:

Fire Department:

The fencing used to secure event area went all the way across both sidewalks therefore not allowing passing foot traffic to walk through. If there is a future event the event producer cannot block both sidewalks.

Parks Maintenance:

Parks Maintenance has to go back the next morning to finish cleaning up.  Tents and other items were left outside making it difficult to clean.  Parks Maintenance said it would be a no for next year. It's just too much on the staff.

Police Department:

Same issue as fire with the sidewalk being blocked and had people walking through the alley way.  No actual issues with the event itself, however they were slow to break down which made police stay even longer to reopen the road.

Public Works:

Public works said that they don't have the staff to do all the things to set up for the road closure and that it was a real strain on PW to make this event happen.  PW said it would be a no for next year.

All departments mentioned about not having other events that require city services on days the city is putting on a major event.
