NOMINATIONS FOR APPOINTMENTS TO THE PUBLIC ART ADVISORY BOARD.

 

BASED ON THE ROTATION SYSTEM, THE NOMINATIONS FOR APPOINTMENTS OF THREE (3) REGULAR MEMBERS TO SERVE TERMS ENDING JULY 31, 2028, WILL BE MADE BY DEPUTY VICE MAYOR MARKERT (SEAT #1), COMMISSIONER MOLLICA (SEAT #2), AND COMMISSIONER CASALE (SEAT #3).

Motion to approve the appointments of three (3) regular members to serve terms ending July 31, 2028.

 

Body

Background:

The terms for regular members Lark Keeler, Montre Bennett, and Andrea Sherman will expire on July 31, 2026.

 

Lark Keeler will have served one (1) unexpired term, is eligible for reappointment, and has expressed interest in being considered for reappointment.

Montre Bennett will have served one (1) full term,  is eligible for reappointment, and has expressed interest in being considered for reappointment.

Andrea Sherman will have served two (2) full terms and is not eligible for reappointment.

 

The Land Development Regulations Article 8.5 enacted the Public Art Advisory Board for the purpose of advising and making recommendations to the City Commission with respect to public art policy and related issues including, but not limited to, the selection, construction, and placement of public art in/on City right-of-way and City owned property.

 

The Public Art Advisory Board shall consist of seven (7) members.

 

(1) At least three seats on the Board must be filled with either an artist, architect, landscape architect or engineer.

(2) The remaining four seats shall be at large and consist of lay persons of knowledge, experience and judgment who have an interest in public art shall make up the balance of the board.

(3) The appointing body shall endeavor to appoint as many of the required disciplines as possible to the Board.
