Recommendation

Recommended Action:

Special Events Technical Advisory Committee (SETAC) recommends the Development Services Management Group (DSMG) make a motion to approve the special event known as Boston's 4th of July Celebration to be held on July 4, 2026; and authorize the Special Event Manager (SEM) to take all actions necessary to effectuate the Special Event Permit.

Body

Background:

Boston's submitted a Special Event Application on March 31, 2026 for the annual 4th of July event. Boston's has been doing this event for over 30 years. The event takes place while A1A is closed for the City's 4th of July event, thus it is not considered an impact event as it takes advantage of the City's closure of the road, thus in and of itself, it does not require the road closure. Boston's puts up a fence to contain any alcohol within the footprint of their event. The event will take place from 4:00pm - 9:30pm. The event producer anticipates 300 people in attendance. The event was last held at last year's 4th of July event (July 4, 2025) without any issues. This event will include alcohol and cooking on site.  Caffe Luna Rosa usually does an event as well, next to this Boston's event, however Caffee Luna Rosa will not be doing their event this year.

Special Event Technical Advisory Committee (SETAC):

SETAC recommends DSMG approve the event.

No special conditions are recommended by SETAC

Funding Source/Financial Impact:

There is no financial impact to the city as the producer will be billed for costs.

Timing of Request:

The event date is quickly approaching and event producer would like to start advertising.
