Recommendation

Motion to Approve an Additional Spending Request to RFQ 2019-007 with CDM Smith Inc. for Owner’s Representative Services for the Replacement of Fire Station No. 113 project (Public Works Project No. 16-012), in the amount of $101,300 for a revised total of $962,425.00.

Body

Background:

On 11/10/2020 City Commission approved an agreement with CDM Smith, Inc. (CDM) for the Owner’s Representative Professional Services associated with the Design/Build Contract for Fire Station 113. CDM’s original agreement duration is twenty-three (23) months.

During the construction of the fire station, an FPL easement was required to install permanent power on the property.  Unfortunately, until permanent power is established on the property, the interior finishes, the elevator, flooring, and the fire equipment, could not be installed due to humidity concerns. Therefore, a ninety-day extension in the construction contract was granted to Gulf Building to account for the additional time needed for FPL to install the permanent power to the fire station (AWA 008).

Approval of additional spending in the amount of $101,300 (based on hourly rates) is required to continue the Owner’s Representative Services during the additional ninety-day extension period granted to the contractor.

This motion is in accordance with the City Code of Ordinances, Section 36.02 and City Policies and Procedures, Change Orders and Amendments.
