Body
Background:
National Clean Up Day is observed annually on the third Saturday of September. In 2026, National Clean Up Day will be recognized on September 19, 2026. In addition to this nationally recognized day of service, the organization promotes the entire month of September as National Clean Up Month, encouraging municipalities, businesses, schools, civic organizations, and residents to participate in neighborhood cleanups, beautification projects, volunteer service opportunities, and litter prevention initiatives. Each year, more than two million volunteers across the country participate in efforts to improve the appearance, safety, and environmental health of their communities. National Clean Up Month serves as a reminder that clean, attractive neighborhoods contribute to stronger communities, increased civic pride, environmental stewardship, and an enhanced quality of life for residents and visitors alike.
