Motion to approve of the State Homeland Security Grant Program (SHSGP) agreement renewal to facilitate additional reimbursement of funds to offset the expenses incurred by the City to sustain and purchase specialized equipment for mitigating Hazardous Materials incidents.

 

Body

Background:

The State of Florida has the statutory authority to disburse federal Homeland Security funds to participating municipalities of a Regional Domestic Security Task Force (RDSTF).  The City of Delray Beach has been participating in the State Homeland Security Grant Program (SHSGP) for over a decade and this renewal agreement will allow for the reimbursement of up to $67,000.00 in funds to offset the expenses incurred by the City to sustain and purchase specialized equipment for mitigating Hazardous Materials incidents for FY 26-27.Period of performance DOE-August 31st, 2028.

 

City Attorney Review:

Approved as to form and legal sufficiency. (See attached Legal Review Checklist)

 

Funding Source/Financial Impact:

SHSGP funding amounts included in the budget proposal for FY 26-27.  This agreement renews our continued participation in this reimbursement grant program.

 

Timing of Request:

This agreement must be fully executed and returned to the Florida Division of Emergency Management by next possible commission meeting.
