Recommendation
Motion to approve Amendment No. 2 to the Agreement with Hawkins Water Treatment Group, Inc. dba Hawkins, Inc. for the purchase and delivery of sodium hypochlorite in an amount not-to-exceed $55,000 through May 28, 2019.
Body
Background:
On May 29, 2014, the City issued an agreement with The Dumont Company for the purchase and delivery of sodium hypochlorite (Agreement) in accordance with ITB No. 2014-24. In October 2014, Hawkins Water Treatment Group, Inc. dba Hawkins, Inc. (Hawkins) acquired The Dumont Company. The Agreement was effective through May 28, 2017 and had two additional one-year renewal options. On March 3, 2017, Amendment No. 1 was executed to renew the Agreement through May 28, 2018. Now, the City and Hawkins have mutually agreed to exercise the second renewal option. Amendment No. 2 will renew the Agreement through May 28, 2019 in an amount not-to-exceed $55,000, and to also formally assign all duties of the Agreement to Hawkins from The Dumont Company.
Sodium hypochlorite is the primary disinfectant within the water distribution system. It is injected into the distribution system at nine remote stations throughout the City for maintaining water quality.
This motion is in accordance with the City Code of Ordinances, Section 36 and City Policies and Procedures, Change Orders and Amendments; Contracts must be amended in the same manner in which they were executed.
