Recommendation
Motion to approve Service Authorization No. 12-15 with Wantman Group, Inc. in the amount not to exceed $57,565.34 for the professional engineering and construction administration services related to the structural repairs for Veteran's Park seawall and replacement of the public docks along the Intracoastal Waterway (Project No. 16-096).
Body
Background:
As a result of a many years of seasonal high tide events, Veteran's Park has experienced significant structural damage to the existing public boat docks and minor damage to the existing seawall. Continual wave action from boat wakes through this stretch of the Intracoastal Waterway also has exacerbated the structural damage to the existing public docks. Moreover, during high tides the water levels in the Intracoastal Waterway have overtopped the seawalls resulting in damage to the grounds and infrastructure of the park.
The Wantman Group, Inc. has been tasked to perform structural engineering design, engineering, permitting, along with construction administration services to raise the seawall cap approximately 3 feet and replace the public docks located on the east side of Veterans Park.
The City utilized engineering consultants that were retained via RFQ #2012-06 (City Project #12-057). Wantman Group, Inc.'s annual contract is valid through January 2017. The recommendation for award is in compliance with Code of Ordinances, Section 36.02(C) (3), Methods of Acquisition, "Direct Acquisition Method, Professional services".
Negotiations regarding the number of hours related to the scope of services were finalized in a Sunshine Meeting on June 22, 2016.
