Background:
The item before the Commission is acceptance of a Landscape Maintenance Agreement for the Samar Mixed-Use (aka Aloft Hotel) development.

The subject property consists of 1.788 acre (77,925 sq. ft.) and currently contains two single family residences and 5,847 sq. ft. of retail commercial and office establishments which have recently been vacated. The property lies within the Central Core (CC) of the CBD (Central Business District) and is located on the west side of SE 5th Avenue, between SE 2nd Street and SE 3rd Street (202 SE 5th Avenue).

On July 22, 2015, the Site Plan Review and Appearance Board (SPRAB) approved a Class V Site Plan, Landscape Plan and Architectural Elevations associated with a demolition of all existing buildings and construction a mixed-use development containing a 122-room hotel with a restaurant, lounge and meeting rooms, 35 condominium units, 6,280 sq. ft. of retail space and structured parking all within one phase. The SPRAB also made a recommendation of approval to the City Commission for a waiver request to reduce the rear setback from 10 feet to 5 feet for a portion of the structured parking along the alley. On October 6, 2015, the City Commission approved the waiver request.

On July 5, 2016, the City Commission approved a hold harmless agreement for the proposed plantings in the public right-of-way along SE 5th Avenue.
