Receive a presentation from City staff of the Delray Beach Memorial Gardens Municipal Cemetery Historic Resource Survey presentation and provide direction regarding potential historic designation.

Background:
At their meeting of May 17, 2022, the City Commission approved the submittal of an application to the State of Florida Division of Historical Resources for a Small Matching Grant (SMG) to complete a historic resource survey of the Delray Beach Memorial Gardens Municipal Cemetery. It is important to note, since the City has maintained "Certified Local Government (CLG)" status, the City is not required to provide matching funds for these grants.
The grant was awarded and totaled $50k and was funded in part by the Florida Legislature via the Division of Historical Resources Small Matching Grant program and in part by the Historic Preservation Fund, a federal grant administered by the National Park Service (NPS). The City of Delray Beach was selected as 1 of 3 projects in the state of Florida to rank for the federal Historic Preservation Fund grant ($18,250 of the $50,000 grant) and the remaining $31,750 was funded by the Florida Legislature, where the city ranked #6 out of 54 funded projects. This is the first time a City of Delray Beach application for the Small Matching Grant was funded by the federal government grant, a testament to the merits of the project and the quality of the application submittal.
The resource survey is attached. In addition, an interactive GIS map was created with the location of the graves, documenting the condition of the markers and cataloguing any legible information, such as epitaph, name, inscription, etc. In addition, City Staff is in ...
