Background:
On February 10, 2015, the Public Art Advisory Board presented to the City Commission five specific Public Art Projects: Chair Sculpture-Delray Affair, completed 2015; High Water Line Delray/Earth Day- completed 2015; Giants- Delray Affair, completed 2016 (replaced Grove Parking Garage Artful Wall); Tennis Wall Street Art-in process; and ART Citywide, in process.
On February 2, 2016, a “Call to Artists” press release was issued requesting artists to submit their proposal for consideration of the Citywide Creative ART Project sponsored by the Public Art Advisory Board. The project joins community stake holders and city staff with an experienced public artist to create and site ART signs throughout the City.
The selected artist will act as Artist in Residence and work in collaboration with the city stakeholders and staff to create (15) fifteen unique works of art in the form of signage featuring the word ART. The signs can be in any medium that is appropriate and lasting and will be mounted on/or adjacent to public structures throughout the City.
At a public meeting on April 28, 2016, the Delray Beach Public Art Advisory Board selected an artist team of Mark Fuller and Agata Ren to be artist in residence for the Project. The team was chosen from (11) different applicants. The Mark Fuller and Agata Ren propose to create 15 chairs, 8 feet...
