Background:
Internal auditing is an independent, objective assurance and advisory activity designed to add value and improve organizational operations. It helps organizations accomplish their objectives by bringing a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluating and improving the effectiveness of governance, risk management, and internal control processes.
The profession has evolved significantly over time, particularly in response to increasing organizational complexity, regulatory expectations, and emerging risks. Today, internal auditors play a critical role in promoting transparency, accountability, and ethical conduct across both public and private sectors.
International Internal Audit Awareness Month,led by the Institute of Internal Auditors, recognizes the vital contributions of internal auditors in strengthening public trust, safeguarding resources, and supporting informed decision-making.
