Background:
The purpose of this request is to amend the adopted Fiscal Year (FY) 2023-24 budget to account for items that were not anticipated, or measurable at the time of original budget adoption. Per Florida State Statute (FSS) 166.241, the City’s Adopted Budget may be revised with a Budget Amendment approved by the City Commission.
Provided below is a summary of the budget changes staff is recommending. The attached Resolution and Exhibit A provide details of the proposed changes.
General Fund (001) $231,920
1. Communications Department
Request to amend the FY 2023-24 Communications Department to fund the activation of the Creative Arts School in the Crest Theater including initial setup costs and staff salaries. The requested budget amendment ensures the city and the City Commission’s vision for the school remains paramount, reduces overhead costs, and accelerates the implementation ensuring the city delivers high-quality arts education by capitalizing on established resources while maintaining fiscal responsibility and operational efficiency.
The transfer amount requested is $118,563.
Funding Source - No change in the General Fund
2. Police Department
Request to amend the FY 2023-24 Police Department Budget to add four police officers' salaries and benefits reimbursable by the CRA. These positions have been included in the CRA FY 2023-24 Amended Budget.
The transfer amount requested is $113,357
