Title

APPROVAL OF A LETTER OF AGREEMENT (LOA) WITH THE FLORIDA AGENCY FOR HEALTHCARE ADMINISTRATION (AHCA) FOR PARTICIPATION IN THE MANAGED CARE ORGANIZATION (MCO) PORTION OF THE PUBLIC EMERGENCY MEDICAL TRANSPORTATION (PEMT) PROGRAM.

Body

Recommended Action:

Recommendation

Staff recommends the approval of the Letter of Agreement (LOA) with AHCA to facilitate additional reimbursement of Medicaid dollars for providing emergency medical transportation to individuals covered by Medicaid’s Managed Care Organizations.

Body

Background:

AHCA is the agency responsible for administering Medicaid reimbursements in the State of Florida. Participation in the managed care organization-public emergency medical transportation (MCO-PEMT) program provides reimbursement for services that the fire-rescue department provides for Medicaid transports. This is the sixth year that the department has participated in the program. Participation in the program requires an inter-governmental transfer (IGT) to the state that triggers AHCA to release funding to the department once a year. This year’s IGT from the city is $281,748.26 and will be reimbursed with as estimated $376,080.98 of net funding for participation this next fiscal year.
