Motion to Approve a contract with the Florida Atlantic University, College of Business, Office of Executive Education for providing a customized on-site specialty education service for City staff to receive project management training in an amount not to exceed $64,200.00.

Background:
One element of the recent reorganization of the Environmental Services Department was the creation of the Engineering and Project Management Division. The primary focus of this new unit is implementing the infrastructure repair and replacement priorities established by the City Commission as well as the management of high priority projects funded through the City’s Five Year Capital Improvements Plan. Key to the success of this initiative is effective project management which focuses on execution and "getting things right".
The Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) is the industry standard for project management. Specialized training to prepare for certification as a project manager is offered internationally through the Project Management Institute and it's partnering organizations. The Office of Executive Education in the College of Business at the Florida Atlantic University (FAU) in Boca Raton is one of those partnering organizations. FAU offers an education program which results in the Executive Certificate in Project Management. This program is normally offered on campus in twelve (12) weekly one (1) day sessions.
