Recommendation

Approval of Resolution No. 216-25, under an approved City Standard CS2026-001 with Data Flow Systems, LLC., the sole source of TAC II Scada proprietary system for remote monitoring and control of water and wastewater utilities activities, in an amount of ($40,000 per year), for a total contract value of $200,000.

Body

Background:

Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) is a proprietary system was selected by the City over two decades ago to monitor and control sewage lift stations, and  water treatment plant equipment. At that time, there were few alternatives’ choices in the marketplace for SCADA systems. Currently, the system through DFS is proprietary, and therefore will not allow integration with components from other vendors. Until a new telemetry system is upgraded, components by DFS need to remain in place and are critical to Utilities operations for maintaining public health. The accumulative spending to maintain operations is estimated at $200,000 through December 7, 2030.
