Recommended Action:

Special Events Technical Advisory Committee (SETAC) recommends the Development Services Management Group (DSMG) make a motion to approve the special event known as AVP League Beach Volleyball to be held on May 23-24, 2025; and authorize the Special Event Manager (SEM) to take all actions necessary to effectuate the Special Event Permit.

Body

Background:

The AVP Pro Beach Volleyball, LLC submitted a Special Event Application on February 18, 2025 for the AVP League Beach Volleyball at the Delray Beach Tennis Center on the weekend of May 23-24, 2025. This event happens all around the country in different cities. This will be the second time this event will happen in Delray Beach. The same event happened in October of 2024 without issues. The expected attendance is about 1000 people per day for a total of 2000 people for the weekend. This is a professional beach volleyball event that could include Olympic athletes competing in Delray Beach. The event will include alcohol, amplified sound, food trucks and vendors. This is a ticketed event.

Special Event Technical Advisory Committee (SETAC):

SETAC recommends DSMG approve the event.

No special conditions are recommended by SETAC

Funding Source/Financial Impact:

There is no financial impact to the city as all costs will be billed to the event producer.
