The Development Services Management Group (DSMG) is asked to make a recommendation to the City Commission regarding the Impact Event known as Run With The Chief to be held on Saturday, June 27, 2026. This event is deemed an Impact Event due to a requested closure of the major roadway of East Atlantic Avenue from NW 5th Avenue to NE 2nd Avenue.

Background:

The Delray Beach Police Department submitted a Special Event Application on March 19, 2026 for the event Run With The Chief to be held on Saturday, June 27, 2026 on East Atlantic Avenue from NW 5th Avenue to NE 2nd Avenue and on NE 2nd Avenue from Atlantic Ave to NE 2nd Street.  This is the first time this event is being held. This event will help strengthen relationships between the Police Department and residents by creating a relaxed, non-enforcement setting where people can interact directly with police leadership and officers. The walk/run will begin at Libby Wesley Plaza head east to NE 2nd Avenue, go north on NE 2nd Avenue to NW 2nd Street, go around the round-about and head back south to Atlantic Avenue, then West on Atlantic Avenue back to end at Libby Wesley Plaza.  The walk/run will kick off at 8am and run until 9am.  The police department is expecting about 150 people in attendance.

Special Events Technical Advisory Committee (SETAC):
