Recommendation
Motion to approve a bid waiver with Southeast Truck Specialists, Inc., for supplemental collision repairs to Fire Truck 201733 in the amount of $41,484.40, for a FY23 total of $84,905.16.

Body
Background:
On April 25, 2023, Fire Truck 201733, a Pierce Pumper Truck, was struck from behind by another vehicle while providing aid on I-95. As a result, the truck’s body and equipment compartment were damaged. The truck has a custom-built body manufactured by Pierce and as such, requires specific skills, equipment, and qualifications to perform the required fabrications and repairs. An independent vehicle damage appraisal provided by The Doan Group reported an initial damage assessment in the amount of $43,420.76. Southeast Truck Specialists, Inc. (Southeast Truck) has been repairing fire trucks, including Delray’s trucks, for more than 25-years. They have the equipment and tools, qualified technicians, and facilities required for repairs to custom-built bodies on fire apparatuses.

On July 10, 2023, Bid Waiver No. BW 2023-006 with Southeast Truck was approved for $43,420.76 by the City Manager, in accordance with PUR-15, Rev. 6.

On August 7, 2023, the Fleet Division of Public Works (Fleet) received notification from Southeast Truck that a supplement to the original damage appraisal was required to restore the truck's operability. To facilitate the additional repairs, an increase of $41,484.40 is required bringing the total amount of the bid waiver for this repair to $84,905.16.

An insurance claim is pending with State Farm pending completion of repairs to the vehicle.
