Staff recommends approval to apply for grant funding from the FY 2020 Assistance to Firefighters Grant -COVID-19 Supplemental.

Background:
The City of Delray Beach Fire Rescue Department is seeking the FY 2020 Assistance to Firefighters Grant to pay for Personal Protective Equipment and other equipment already purchased to assist in the City’s Corona Virus Pandemic Response.
This Grant will retro actively pay for up to 90% of PPE and Equipment that the City has already purchased or encumbered.
City Attorney Review:
Approved as to form and legal sufficiency.
Funding Source/Financial Impact:
This is a 90/10 matching grant agreement of federally awarded funds from the Department of Homeland Security/FEMA. There is no financial impact to the City of Delray Beach, because $348,712 has already been spent. This grant, if approved, would reduce the City’s financial impact from $348,712 to $34,871.00 (10%).
