Motion to ratify an emergency purchase to replace the City Golf Course clubhouse kitchen air conditioning unit and approve an increase in the spending limit with Atlantic Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, Inc. in the not-to-exceed amount of $64,000.

Background:
The City of Delray Beach Golf Course Clubhouse has a separate air conditioning unit that cools the kitchen area. The kitchen is a critical area of the Clubhouse which individuals or groups who rent the Clubhouse utilize to prepare food for their private events. Without proper cooling in the kitchen area, Clubhouse reservations are subject to cancellation, impacting revenues that are generated from rentals of this facility. The existing equipment has been repaired several times to keep it operational. However, it is approximately twenty years old and is now non-operational requiring the rental of portable air conditioning units at a cost of approximately $1,500 per week per unit . Because of its age, repairs are no longer practicable. Replacement will take approximately ten weeks.
The City has a contract (Bid 2014-10) with Atlantic Refrigeration for air conditioning service, maintenance, and repairs. Staff recommends the approval of the emergency purchase of this air conditioner for $62,880 with Atlantic Refrigeration. Staff also recommends adding the condenser coil coating as this will help extend the life of the coils and help to slow down the corrosion which often results in premature failure.
