Motion to Approve Resolution 175-23 and execute a grant agreement with the State of Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP GRANT 23FRP42), Division of Resilient Florida Program, for providing supplementary funding for the Marine Way Drainage Improvement Project in the amount of $10,000,000; Project No. 17-047.

Background:
The City of Delray Beach Public Works Department initiated the conceptual design of the Marine Way Seawall and Dock Improvements in FY 17/18 to replace the existing failed seawall in the first block of Marine Way between the Atlantic Avenue Bridge and SE 1st Street. The failure of this seawall allowed water from the Intracoastal Waterway to spill into the roadway during King Tides and Storm Events which eroded the roadway base and caused serious deterioration of the roadway creating a public health and safety concern for the residents along Marine Way.

Marine Way (Atlantic Avenue to SE 1st St) has been experiencing flooding for the past 15 years. The proposed construction project includes installing new and higher seawalls, adding a new stormwater pump station, upsizing drainage pipes, replacing water/sewer infrastructure, beautifying the area with new shared-use paver roads, marginal docks, onsite parking, decorative street lighting, and other amenities along the corridor of Marine Way from the City Marina to the south and north to Veterans Park.
