Motion to Approve acquisitions of services for a total amount of $64,051.90 to CJ Contracting, LLC., for work being conducted at 222 SE 5th Street and 38 NW 11th Avenue This item was bid according to Chapter 36, Section 36.02, “Methods of Acquisition” (A), (1) “Sealed Competitive Method.”


Body
Background:
The City has been allocated $233,000 of Residential Construction Mitigation Program (RCMP) and $404,964 of Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds through the Florida Department of Emergency Management and U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to provide for the renovation or repair, as well as hurricane mitigation, of existing substandard homes. The rehabilitation of homes addresses building and code violations, interior and exterior building, electrical and plumbing problems, health and safety issues and the retrofit of special items for those with special needs.

Housing Rehabilitation Grant(s) are being awarded to CJ Contracting, LLC., for work being conducted at 222 SE 5th Street and 38 NW 11th Avenue, as they are the lowest responsive bidder, as detailed on the attached Bid Information Sheet(s). Both items were bid according to Chapter 36, Section 36.02, “Methods of Acquisition” (A), (1) “Sealed Competitive Method.”

Grant awards are based on the actual cost of the rehabilitation, as determined by the low responsive bidder(s). Total rehab cost also includes lead inspection, lead abatement, lead clearance, termite inspection, termite treatment and recording fees. Additional costs may be incurred for lead clearance test(s). All unused funds will remain with the Housing Rehabilitation Program.
