APPROVAL OF A REIMBURSABLE FIVE-YEAR EMS GRANT WITH PALM BEACH COUNTY FOR THE PURCHASE OF EMS EQUIPMENT, TRAINING OR SUPPLIES TO BE USED BY THE FIRE RESCUE DEPARTMENT.

Recommended Action:
The City Commission is asked to approve a five-year County EMS Grant that will reimburse the City at the time of receipt of invoice for products and services purchased by the fire rescue department during the covered period.

Background:
This grant will allow the Fire-Rescue Department to maintain the highest standards in providing the best care to our citizens and visitors while minimizing cost through the City's General Fund. The Department's EMS Division will use this opportunity to augment training, supplies or equipment that is approved by the county Office of Emergency Management, EMS section. Certain purchases and costs, as approved, will be reimbursed through the Palm Beach County of Office of Emergency Management.
City Attorney Review:
Approved as to form and legal sufficiency
Funding Source/Financial Impact:
Fire-Rescue anticipates reimbursement of approximately $30,000 per year each year of the 5-year agreement.
Timing of Request:
Upon acceptance of this grant, the purchases can be made immediately, and paper work submitted to Palm Beach County to begin the reimbursement process.
