Motion to approve application for the FY 2025 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant in the amount of $ $36,003.

Background:

The Police Department is requesting approval to apply for the 2025 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant in the amount of $ $36,003. If awarded, these funds will assist in funding police overtime for the annual Holiday Robbery and Burglary Task Force.

 

City Attorney Review:

Approved as to form and legal sufficiency.

 

Funding Source/Financial Impact:

The reimbursable overtime for FY 25/26 is funded in 001-21-150-521.14-20 (Field Operations - Reimbursable Overtime) and 001-21-110-521.14-20 (Special Services - Reimbursable Overtime) accounts. If application is approved and grant awarded, reimbursement is provided through the U.S. Department of Justice's Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program.

This request is time sensitive due to application deadline of April 28, 2026.
