Title

APPROVAL OF A LETTER OF AGREEMENT (LOA) WITH THE FLORIDA AGENCY FOR HEALTHCARE ADMINISTRATION (AHCA) FOR PARTICIPATION IN THE MANAGED CARE ORGANIZATION (MCO) PORTION OF THE PUBLIC EMERGENCY MEDICAL TRANSPORTATION (PEMT) PROGRAM.

Body

Recommended Action:

Recommendation

Staff recommends approval of the Letter of Agreement (LOA) with AHCA to facilitate additional reimbursement of Medicaid dollars for providing emergency medical transportation to individuals covered by Medicaid’s Managed Care Organizations.

Body

Background:

AHCA is the agency responsible for administering Medicaid reimbursements in the State of Florida. Participation in the managed care organization-public emergency medical transportation (MCO-PEMT) program provides reimbursement for services that the fire-rescue department provides for Medicaid transports. This is the seventh year that the Department has participated in the program. The City will remit Intergovernmental Transfer (IGT) funds to AHCA in an amount not to exceed $286,341.00.  AHCA will reimbursement the City the remainder of the total allotment of $699,333.80 owed to the City for Medicaid transports. That amount is projected to be $382,992.80 by AHCA. As the City has not received the LOA for fiscal year 2025-2026 , at the time of agenda publication, the LOA for FY 2024-2025 has been included as the backup documentation for this agenda item.  City staff does not anticipate changes in the terms of the  LOA with the exception of the reimbursement amount.
