Background:

This is a proposed amendment to the Education Board ordinance that clarifies the duties and responsibilities of the Delray Beach Education Board. The purpose of the proposed ordinance is to strengthen the objectives and mission of the Education Board to positively impact educational initiatives in the City. The ordinance will update the duties of the Education Board to include the formulation of a strategic plan using current and relevant student performance data, providing feedback on proposed K-12 and Adult Education programming, provide recommendations regarding opportunities to collaborate with external educational stakeholders, reviewing education grant applications,  and performing all tasks as may be directed by the City Commission or the City Manager pertaining to educational matters that may impact the City.
