Background:
The Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program of which the City of Delray Beach has been a recipient since 1988. As such, we are excited to be celebrating the 52nd anniversary of the CDBG program this year in 2026. Enacted by Congress in 1974 under the Housing and Community Development Act, CDBG provides necessary funding to communities across the country to address housing rehabilitation, public service, infrastructure, economic development (business assistance), public service activities, disaster recovery, and other community needs. We are grateful to have been awarded funds which play a pivotal role in helping the most vulnerable citizens through key investments. We proclaim April 6-10th as National Community Development Week to highlight accomplishments of the past 52 years.
