Motion to award an agreement to Zabatt Engine Services, Inc. d/b/a Zabatt Power Systems, Inc. in an amount not-to-exceed $120,000.00 for the replacement of emergency generator for Fire Rescue Station No. 5
Body
Background:
Fire Stations require power at all times in order to provide citizens with adequate public safety. Emergency generators are utilized to ensure auxiliary electrical power for Fire Rescue Stations during times of power interruptions. The current generator at Fire Rescue Stationi No. 5 has reached its serviceable life cycle and is in need of complete replacement. The replacement of the emergency generator was planned for in the FY 2013- 2014 Capital Improvement Plan FY 2013 - 2014 and has been deferred for 3 years.
On August 11, 2016, the Purchasing Department solicited bids (ITBC 2016-133) for the replacement of an emergency generator for Fire Rescue Station No. 5. On August 20, 2016, two bids were received from Assurance Power Systems, Inc. and Zabatt Engine Services, Inc. d/b/a Zabatt Power Systems, Inc. Pricing submitted by the firms is as follows:
Zabatt Engine Services, Inc. d/b/a Zabatt Power Systems, Inc. $114,479.00
Assurance Power Systems, Inc. - $137,766.84
The Purchasing Department recommends award of agreement to Zabatt Engine Services, Inc. d/b/a Zabatt Power Systems, Inc., the lowest responsive and responsible bidder. A contingency fund of $5,521.00 is requested to allow for minor modifications during the construction and installation phases.
This motion to award is in accordance with the City Code of Ordinances, Chapter 36, Section 36.02(A)(1), "Competitive Bids".
