Motion to approve an appointment for one (1) regular member to serve a term ending September 30, 2028.

Background:

Section 35.105 of the Code of Ordinances provides that the plan will be administered by the Retirement Committee, consisting of five (5) members. One (1) member shall be the Chief Financial Officer of the City. The City Commission shall appoint four (4) additional members, three (3) of whom may, but need not, be employees of the City and one that may, but need not be an employee of the City or the Mayor or City Commissioner. Each appointed member shall serve until a successor is appointed in like manner.

 

Ordinance 22-24 provides term limits for the Committee Members as follows. Two (2) members shall be appointed by the City Commission to serve an initial term of three (3) years, and two members shall be appointed by the City Commission to serve a term of four (4) years. All subsequent terms thereafter shall be for a term of four (4) years. No appointed member shall serve more than two (2) successive terms. An applicant who is appointed shall serve a term commencing October 1, 2024 and shall be eligible to serve two (2) full successive terms thereafter.
