Title

RESOLUTION NO. 12-16 AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION CONSTRUCTION AGREEMENTS

Body

Recommended Action:

Recommendation

Motion to Approve Resolution No. 12-16 authorizing the City Manager to sign Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) Construction Agreements on behalf of the City of Delray Beach, Florida.

Body

Background:

The City is constructing multi-modal parking areas to accommodate bicycles, scooters, and golf carts within the Downtown corridor. These areas are being designed to allow for ADA compliant access from the sidewalks at designated stops for the Delray Roundabout.

The City submitted construction plans to the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) requesting approval to convert two existing on-street parking spaces (north and south side) on Atlantic Avenue to Multi-Modal Parking Spaces.  Additionally, the City requested approval to convert one on-street parking space to a golf cart parking space on 6th Avenue (Corner of Northbound Federal Highway and Atlantic Avenue).

For many years the City has submitted permit applications to the FDOT for approval to perform work within their right-of-way.  FDOT is now requiring construction agreements with municipalities to proceed with any permanent construction activities within FDOT's right-of-way. The proposed Resolution No. 12-16 will authorize the City Manager to sign FDOT's Construction Agreements.
