Title

PALM BEACH COUNTY'S MOBILE DAMAGE ASSESSMENT PROGRAM

Body

Recommended Action:

Recommendation

Motion to approve a hold harmless agreement with the Palm Beach County regarding the City's use of Palm Beach County’s Mobile Damage Assessment Program.

Body

Background:

The Damage Assessment Resource Tool (DART) is an application developed by the Palm Beach County Public Safety Department. The tool allows the municipality and community to both prepare for emergencies and report problems in the aftermath of an emergency. The Palm Beach County Information Systems Services and Planning & Zoning Board staff partnered together to build and deploy a suite of applications to support the collection and reporting of the extent and location of damages following a disaster.

The Damage Assessment (DA) Mobile application is designed to be installed on laptops and mobile devices and will be used by City Damage Assessment Teams to conduct field assessments within 72 hours of an event.  The Damage Assessment applications and training are available at no charge to Palm Beach County’s municipalities.

The Palm Beach County Disaster Awareness and Recovery Tool (PBC DART) provides residents with information and tools used to prepare for a disaster and with the ability to report damage to their home or business in the immediate aftermath of a disaster. Damage reports help disaster managers get an immediate Countywide "picture" within hours of a disaster event to help prioritize response efforts.
