Title

INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT WITH THE COMMUNITY REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY (CRA) FOR TENNIS STADIUM STUDY

Body

Recommended Action:

Recommendation

Motion to Approve an Interlocal Agreement between the CRA and the City of Delray Beach for the CRA to fund the Architectural and Structural Study of the Tennis Stadium, in an amount not to exceed $75,000. This action is subject to approval of the City and CRA budgets for Fiscal Year 2016-2017.

Body

Background:

At the CRA Board Meeting on November 19, 2015, the Delray Beach Sports Destination Committee provided a presentation on the sporting events held in Delray and their economic impact. One of the items discussed was the need for a structural and architectural assessment on the Tennis Stadium, which was originally built in 1992, with renovations in 1993 and 1998.

The CRA discussed the funding, in an amount not to exceed $75,000, of an Architectural and Structural Study of the Tennis Stadium at their September 8, 2016 meeting and agreed, unanimously, to move forward with funding this project. It is important to note that the Palm Beach Sports Commission has offered to provide $15,000 toward this study.

If approved, the City will be employing a consultant to conduct this evaluation in FY16-17 and requested funding support from the CRA for this project.

City Attorney Review:

Approved as to form and legal sufficiency.

Finance Department Review:

Finance recommends approval.

Funding Source:

Funding is in 334-4145-572.31-90 in the FY 16/17 budget.

Timing of Request:

This is time sensitive as Parks & Recreation would like to engage a firm to complete the structural analysis before the Delray Beach Open in February.
