Background:
In January 2017, the City Commission entered into a $100,000 matching grant agreement between the City of Delray Beach and the Council for Educational Change ($100,000 from the City + $100,000 Federal Dollars = $200,000). The Partnership to Advance School Success (PASS) grant program is designed for a top corporate executive to serve as a mentor to a school principal, and to help enhance principal leadership skills by infusing business strategies into the school improvement operation that results in improved academic outcomes for the students. This grant agreement benefits both Carver Middle school and Orchard View Elementary school and the COO of Delray Medical Center will be the executive mentor working with these principals over the next 3-year grant cycle. Sandra Edwards, Principal at Carver, and Lisa Lee, Principal at Orchard View will give an overview on the PASS Program at Carver, and how a partnership with the feeder school over the summer is being planned for incoming student success.
