TITLE:

APPROVAL OF A LETTER OF AGREEMENT (LOA) WITH THE FLORIDA AGENCY FOR HEALTH CARE ADMINISTRATION (AHCA) FOR PARTICIPATION IN THE MEDICAID REIMBURSEMENT ENTITLED PUBLIC EMERGENCY MEDICAL TRANSPORTATION (PEMT) PROGRAM.

Recommended Action:

Staff recommends the approval of the Letter of Agreement (LOA) with AHCA to facilitate additional reimbursement of Medicaid dollars for providing emergency medical transportation to individuals covered by Medicaid’s Managed Care Organizations.

Background:

AHCA is the agency responsible for administering Medicaid reimbursements in the State of Florida. Participation in the Public Emergency Medical Transportation (PEMT) program provides reimbursement for services that the Fire-Rescue Department provides for Medicaid transports. This is the eighth year that the department has participated in the program. Participation in the program requires an inter-governmental transfer (IGT) to the state that triggers AHCA to release funding to the city once a year. This year’s IGT has been calculated with an amount of $254,462.47. Once this IGT is received by the state, the allocated reimbursement will be sent to the city.
