RESOLUTION NO. 10-16 AUTHORIZING THE INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT WITH PALM BEACH COUNTY FOR A MAST ARM SIGNAL AT SWINTON AVENUE AND S.E. 1ST STREET
Body
Recommended Action:
Recommendation
Motion to Approve Resolution No. 10-16 authorizing an Interlocal Agreement with Palm Beach County for the construction of a Mast Arm Signal at Swinton Avenue and S.E. 1st Street. This agreement is for reimbursement of a mast arm signal in an amount not to exceed $275,000. (Project No. 13-022)
Body
Background:
On May 7, 2013, City Commission approved the design for the replacement of the existing span wire signal at the intersection of Swinton Avenue and SE/SW 1st Street with a mast arm signal. The existing span-wire intersection, which consists of traffic signals hanging from cables supported by wood poles, are in very poor condition and do not meet current wind load requirements. As part of the traffic conversion to two-way on S.E. 1st Street, the City has coordinated with Palm Beach County and agreed that due to right-of-way restrictions and potential conflicts with existing overhead utilities, the proposed signal will consist of one mast arm pole assembly to serve the entire intersection. This agreement will reimburse Palm Beach County for the construction of the mast arm signal in an amount not to exceed $275,000.
City Attorney Review:
Approved as to form and legal sufficiency.
