NOMINATIONS FOR APPOINTMENTS TO THE GENERAL EMPLOYEES' RETIREMENT PLAN. BASED ON THE ROTATION SYSTEM, APPOINTMENTS TO SERVE INITIAL TERMS ENDING SEPTEMBER 30, 2027, WILL BE MADE BY COMMISSIONER BURNS (SEAT #4) AND MAYOR CARNEY (SEAT #5). BASED ON THE ROTATION SYSTEM, APPOINTMENTS TO SERVE TERMS ENDING SEPTEMBER 30, 2028, WILL BE MADE BY COMMISSIONER MARKERT (SEAT #1) AND DEPUTY VICE-MAYOR LONG (SEAT #2).

Motion to approve appointments for two (2) regular members to serve initial terms ending September 30, 2027 and two (2) regular members to serve terms ending September 30, 2028.

Background:
Section 35.105 of the Code provides that the plan will be administered by the Retirement Committee, consisting of five (5) members. One (1) member shall be the Chief Financial Officer of the City. The City Commission shall appoint four (4) additional members, three (3) of whom may, but need not, be employees of the City and one that may, but need not be an employee of the City or the Mayor or City Commissioner. Each appointed member shall serve until a successor is appointed in like manner.
Ordinance 22-24 to provide term limits for Committee Members are as follows. Two (2) members shall be appointed by the City Commission to serve an initial term of three (3) years, and two members shall be appointed by the City Commission to serve a term of four (4) years. All subsequent terms thereafter shall be for a term of four (4) years. No appointed member shall serve more than two (2) successive terms. An applicant who is appointed shall serve a term commencing October I, 2024 and shall be eligible to serve two (2) full successive terms thereafter.
