Motion to Approve Resolution No. 222-24 for retroactive grant application and approval of the Safe Streets and Roads for All Grant Agreement with the United States Department of Transportation Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) for the preparation of a Vision Zero action plan in the amount of $300,000.

Background:
The City of Delray Beach (City) has implemented initiatives to improve mobility for all roadway users and reduce traffic related accidents, to include:
Complete Streets Policy - On November 1, 2016, the City Commission approved Resolution No. 54-16 approving a Complete Streets Policy to accommodate the safety and convenience of all surface transportation system users into the planning, design, and construction of transportation projects within the City of Delray Beach.
Vision Zero City - On February 1, 2022, the City Commission approved Resolution No. 07-22 designating the City of Delray Beach as a “Vision Zero City”, establishing a Vision Zero Coordinating Committee, and directing the City Manager to create a Vision Zero Action Plan to establish a goal of no severe traffic injuries or fatalities by 2035.
The City has also implemented neighborhood traffic calming policies and procedures for identifying and addressing problems related to speeding, excessive volumes, and safety on neighborhood streets.
