Motion to approve Service Authorization No. 12-20 to Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc. in the amount not to exceed $130,990.68 for professional design services for water main upgrades on: (1) NW 1st Avenue and NW 2nd Avenue; (2) NW 17th Street; (3) Prospect Street; and (4) SW 11th Avenue.

Background:
Providing an acceptable level of service for potable water distribution is a top priority for the City. Upgrading 2", 4" and 6" water mains throughout the City is the primary method for addressing these level of service improvements. The water main improvements project is also a regulatory requirement necessary to meet current and future fire flow demands, address issues relating to low water pressure, and improving chlorine residuals in the water main. Additionally, the installation of fire hydrants require a minimum of an 8" water main to allow for proper fire flow protection. Upgrading the existing water mains and replacing them with 8" water mains is planned for this fiscal year for the following locations based upon staff recommendations:
(1) NW 1st Avenue and NW 2nd Avenue (Project No.16-034)
(2) NW 17th Street (Project No.16-034)
(3) Prospect Street (Project No.16-036)
(4) SW 11th Avenue (Project No.16-037)
This service authorization includes engineering design, permitting, surveying, and bidding services for construction of the water main upgrades.
